The original CitationJet of 1993 paired a NASA-derived laminar-flow wing with the first application of the Williams FJ44 — the engine that made light jets economically sensible — and founded what became the world's best-selling light-jet family, more than two thousand strong.
Three hundred and fifty-nine were built, and the survivors work hard: five seats, single-pilot certified, and sub-two-hour sectors at a figure that makes a private departure the rational choice over an airline day.
