The Gulfstream V invented the ultra-long-range category: 6,500 nautical miles and a 51,000-foot ceiling in 1997, achievements its development team took the Collier Trophy for. It is the aircraft that first made Sydney–Los Angeles a business-jet sentence — eastbound with the winds, and famously so.

Around 193 were built before the G550 refined the formula, and the GV remains the most affordable true 6,500-mile cabin in existence — twelve oval windows, three zones, and a mission list its price class cannot otherwise touch.
