Gold Coast
Our home coast — a runway that touches two states, and the whole seaboard settling into view on descent.
OOL · 1h 10m from Sydney
The Gold Coast announces itself on descent — the line of breakers running unbroken from the Broadwater to the border, the hinterland rising dark green behind it. The runway at Bilinga carries its own quiet novelty: it crosses the Queensland–New South Wales line, so you touch down in two states at once. Beyond the fence, Currumbin and Burleigh keep their morning rituals — surf checks, black coffee, nobody in a hurry.
This is home ground. Our Brisbane office sits ninety kilometres up the motorway, and private jet charter to the Gold Coast is among the sectors we arrange most often — Sydney in a little over an hour, Melbourne in just over two. Aircraft arrive at the coast's southern end, where Platinum Business Aviation Centre meets passengers away from the main terminal, and the curfew leaves room for compliant business jets to move late.

Flying to Gold Coast
Private jets land at Gold Coast Airport (OOL/YBCG) at Bilinga, the coast's southern end, with FBO handling by Platinum Business Aviation Centre.
The right aircraft
Light jets carry the east-coast sectors comfortably — Sydney is barely more than an hour in the air, and Melbourne sits well within range. Trans-Tasman arrivals from Auckland suit a super-midsize cabin for the added reach and headroom. The curfew's 34,000 kg threshold spares most charter categories, so evening movements can still be arranged, subject to noise standards.

June – November
Winter into spring is the coast at its finest — dry, mild and traced by the humpback migration from June to November. The Pacific Airshow fills the sky off Surfers Paradise each August (14–16 August in 2026), and Magic Millions opens the year in the Turf Club precinct at Bundall in January.

The Gold Coast you came for
Sales week in January
Magic Millions gathers the bloodstock world at its sales complex beside the Gold Coast Turf Club each January; the 2026 yearling sale ran from the 13th to the 18th, bracketed by a raceday worth $13.25 million. The week moves to its own clock — we hold departure times loosely and position aircraft as the ring dictates.
The humpback highway
From June to November the humpback migration passes close inshore, with mothers and new calves lingering late in the season. A private vessel out of the Broadwater at first light finds them without the crowd — the water still, the coast's towers reduced to a thin silver line behind you.
An airshow over the break
Each August the Pacific Airshow stages three days of display flying above Surfers Paradise beach — 14 to 16 August in 2026. Take a beachfront suite on the flight line and watch fast jets work the shoreline, or anchor offshore and see the display from the water.

The arrival
Private arrivals use Gold Coast Airport (OOL) at Bilinga, where Platinum Business Aviation Centre provides round-the-clock FBO handling, fuelling and concierge support — including its recently opened Mondrian Lounge — clear of the commercial terminal. A curfew runs 11pm to 6am Queensland time, though business jets under 34,000 kg that meet the latest international noise standards may still operate within it.

Frequently asked
How much does a private jet charter to the Gold Coast cost?
Charter to the Gold Coast carries no tariff — every journey is priced individually against the aircraft, its positioning and the date. Sydney is a short light-jet sector; Melbourne, being longer, prices accordingly. School-holiday and event weeks move the market most here, so notice rewards you. Request the route and we will return a firm, all-inclusive figure.
Which airport do private jets use on the Gold Coast?
Private jets use Gold Coast Airport (OOL/YBCG) at Bilinga, at the coast's southern end near Coolangatta. Platinum Business Aviation Centre operates the dedicated FBO there, meeting passengers away from the commercial terminal with 24-hour handling and lounge facilities. Burleigh Heads, Palm Beach and the southern beaches are the closest neighbourhoods.
Does Gold Coast Airport have a curfew for private jets?
Yes — a curfew applies from 11pm to 6am Queensland time. It is not absolute for private aviation: business jets with a maximum take-off weight under 34,000 kg that meet the latest international noise standards may still operate during curfew hours, and most light, midsize and super-midsize charter aircraft typically fall under that threshold.
How long is a private flight to the Gold Coast from Sydney or Melbourne?
Approx. 1h 10m from Sydney and approx. 2h 10m from Melbourne by light jet. Hamilton Island is approx. 1h 25m, and Auckland approx. 3h 30m across the Tasman. Ground time is minimal — passengers arrive at the FBO minutes before departure rather than hours.
